In the heart of Molivos, under the shades of the wisteria (salkimi) trees, lies
the AGORA of the village,
the traditional Market
District.

Cobble stone streets, fountains with sculptured inscriptions and traditional buildings take us back to the last
century, a period during which
most of the buildings of the
AGORA were built.

As in all villages on Lesvos island, thus in Molivos the AGORA was and still is,
not only the commercial but
the cultural district
as well.

Here you will find the Municipal Conference Centre, originally an old mosque which recently has been suitably restored.

There are also: a Hammam (Turkish Baths), an Arts Gallery, a Municipal Library
and a Fine Arts School (Workshop)
which is housed in a restored
mansion that contains a
large number
of Frescoes.

Finally, at the Municipal Museum there are archaeological findings from all
the periods of habitation
in the area.

   		At the Agora, you'll find the St. Panteleimon church which is worth paying a visit, as it dates back to 1844.
It was built by Stratighis Karekos, one of the most importantMaster Craftsmen in
the 19th century.
